Sharon and Russ Wakefield

Sharon Wakefield – formerly of Quilt This Sharon and Old Town Quilting – brings over 15 years of experience in long arm custom machine quilting to Old Town Quilting, as well as 25 years of experience as a quilter and over 45 years of experience sewing. Many of her machine quilted works have been entered (and won!) in state fairs and other local competitions.

Sharon was born in Blaine, MN, lived in norther Minnesota for many years, and moved to Ft. Collins in 1994. Her background includes over 15 years of experience in fashion design, dance, and choreography. She has 4 children: 3 daughters (Jill, Anne, and Laura) and one son (David).

Her professional organizations include the International Machine Quilters AssociationThe League of Northern Colorado Quilters, and is a member of the Sew and Sews Quilt group.

 

Russ Wakefield is currently teaching and working on his PhD in Computer Science at Colorado State University. His professional background includes management at several technical companies such as Cisco Systems, Centigram Communications, and Pyramid Technology.

Russ retired from Software Engineering management in 2001 and created Mountain Crafts Gallery in Red Feather Lakes. Taking an old real estate business building, Russ built the gallery from scratch – adding an art gallery, espresso bar, printing business, and gift store to the mountain community. He also served as treasurer on the Board of Directors of the Red Feather Lakes Library District for several years. Russ sold the gallery in 2005 to pursue his PhD.

Russ was raised near Champaign, Illinois, moved to Ft. Collins for the first time in 1973, and has lived here (mostly) since. He has 3 children (Anjie, Beth, and Jim) and 4 grandchildren.
